Try Baseball Day

9 October 2021

Now that Sydney is opening up, we’re holding our first Junior Try Baseball after the others were postponed when we went into lockdown!

WHEN: Saturday, October 16th
WHERE: Phil Austin Baseball Fields, Kogarah
TIME: 10am – 12pmATTENDANCE: Any person aged over 16 must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination.
BRING: Bring a glove, available at your local Sports or Baseball retailer. Please wear sneakers and comfortable clothing.

We provide this time for those who are new to baseball, the opportunity to try their hand at hitting and throwing. Certified and fully vaccinated coaches will be in attendance.

Children aged from 3 through to 16 can play in our Junior competition, whilst our Senior teams welcome players from age 15 through to 80 and beyond! This is truly a multi-generational and family game.

  • T-Ball (4-8 years): We field teams in the under 7’s for children and in the Under 9’s. Kids hit from a standing tee and learn the fundamentals on a smaller diamond.
  • Zooka (9-10 years): Children learn to hit balls thrown from a pitching machine and hone their field skills. This is the transitional step before they reach live pitch.
  • Baseball (11 and up): Live pitch baseball games on full diamonds.
  • Seniors: For children aged 15 and up, as well as adults.

Vaccination

We are aware this can be a controversial topic for some people and we respect your privacy, however we need to comply with the guidelines set out by the NSW Government, Baseball NSW and the CSJBA.

  • Parents or carers attending must be fully vaccinated and be able to show proof of vaccination on their phone.
  • Please show this or proof of medical exemption to myself or the coaches – and we will mark this down against your child so for training purposes, you should not need to show this to us again.
  • We also ask you to check-in using our QR code each time.
  • If you are unable to be vaccinated, Baseball NSW have advised that parents or carers will need to remain in their cars, whilst attending training sessions.

Some of the other guidelines we need to follow are:

  • All people 16+ years MUST be fully vaccinated to participate during October and November 2021 – no exceptions. This includes players, coaches, managers, scorers and any others directly associated with the team.
  • If an adult or anyone aged 16+ years is not fully vaccinated – they cannot participate with the team until 1 December 2021.
  • Participants 12-15 years of age are not required to be fully vaccinated and can fully take part.
  • Participants less than 12 years of age are exempted from vaccination requirements and can fully take part.
  • If your child is unwell for any reason, please keep your child home and let myself, or your child’s coach/manager once assigned to a team, know.
