COVID-19 Update – 23/8/21

18 August 2021

The following COVID-19 update is available from Baseball NSW:

To Our Members,

In response to the current COVID-19 outbreak as well as the current lack of improvement in positive cases in NSW, Baseball NSW has made the difficult decision to abandon the remainder of the Winter 2021 Competition.

In reaching our decision, Baseball NSW has been in consultation with the NSW Office of Sport along with our other sporting code colleagues. This has been to weigh up our obligation to comply with Public Health Orders as well as the broader obligation to provide participants with a safe environment to play sport.

Looking forward, as we get closer to the 2021-2022 Summer season start, Baseball NSW is acutely aware that the threat of COVID-19 continues to create doubt and uncertainty amongst many of our members. Consequently, the actual timing of the Summer season commencement remains conditional on the relevant NSW Public Health Orders, and this varies across NSW.

Baseball NSW remains committed to attempting to have as much Baseball played as possible this coming summer season. We will continue to engage regularly with the NSW Government, Sports NSW and the Office of Sport to ensure that the return to Baseball is safe for all our players, staff, volunteers and officials at all levels of the game, as well as the broader community.

We also acknowledge the passion of our members wanting to return to play and the benefits that Baseball provides to individuals and communities. However, we ask that you be patient and understanding during these trying times, being assured our number one priority is a safe and speedy return to playing. As such, Baseball NSW is strongly encouraging vaccinations so we can all get back on the diamond faster.

Following the announcement from the NSW Government to protect the people of NSW from the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, we want to remind our members of new restrictions introduced for all of regional NSW, and escalated restrictions effective today from 12.01am Monday 23rd August 2021 for the Greater Sydney Metropolitan area.

Baseball NSW hopes that all our members continue to stay safe and well, and should you feel like you need assistance please refer to the contact details below for professional support.

Regards,
Mark Marino
CEO
