On the back of a number of suggestions, the Cronulla Sutherland Junior Baseball Association Inc is keen to develop a “Girls Development Program” (GDP) for the upcoming 22-23 season.
Exactly what this program will look like will depend on the number of participants and willing helpers.
- They have had some very preliminary discussions with Ryde, Manly and BNSW all of whom have indicated their interest in girls-only gala day events for the upcoming season.
- The CSJBA are also aiming to have at least one girls-only team participate in the Rookies Cup this season.
- They are looking at LA10 through to LA16 girls.
It is not envisaged that this will be an intensive high-performance rep training program but rather an opportunity for the girls to get together a few times throughout the season, have some fun, get to know each other and learn a few things along the way.
The aim of the program is to keep the girls in the game and demonstrate there are opportunities for girls at all levels.
They are not looking for players just yet, but rather people who are interested in helping out be it coaching, management, recruitment or anything that will help make this program a success.
